This book was just wild. I’m not sure I’ve ever read anything quite like this, but I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more by this author.
Aiden Bishop is trapped in a time loop with no idea who he is or why he finds himself inhabiting the body of one person after another — eight in total. All he knows is that Evelyn Hardcastle will die at the end of the day — over and over again — until he figures out who wants her dead. But, he’s not the only one trying to figure it out. And he’s also being hunted by the person trying to stop him from solving the mystery.
This book was so complex and had so many characters that writing this book must have required a huge investment in post-it notes and blank wall space. I don’t know how the author managed to keep all the characters and plot lines straight otherwise.
Warning when you start reading the book, you might be completely lost…that’s okay. Keep going. You’ll figure it out. Well, not the big twists, but you’ll get the rhythm of it down and you’ll only be as lost as our main character.
I thought Aiden’s character was very interesting, and even more so as we find out about his past as the book goes on. The premise that he has to re-learn everything about himself and everyone around him as he goes through the same day, day after day, is definitely like Groundhog Day with a strange, dark twist.
This was one of my two book club’s pick for February, and I’m so glad. It gave me an excuse to read this book, which has been on my TBR list for too long. If it’s on yours, move it to the top. You won’t be sorry, and you won’t be able to put it down.
